Marie-Agnès and Eliott’s wedding in Peyriac-de-Mer

A church ceremony, portraits on the lagoon and a reception at a family property: a wedding with deep roots in Peyriac-de-Mer.

From military traditions to couple portraits on the lagoon, Marie-Agnès and Eliott’s wedding brought together some very different moments. The uniforms and arches of swords outside the church were a memorable part of their celebrations in Peyriac-de-Mer.

The wedding story

Tradition and open landscapes: a wedding in Peyriac-de-Mer

I joined Marie-Agnès and Eliott in Peyriac-de-Mer for a wedding where tradition played an important part. The church ceremony, the military uniforms and the sword arches as they left the church were among the day’s highlights. We also took their portraits on the lagoon before joining their loved ones for the reception at a family property.

Marie-Agnès’s dress, the uniforms and the lines of the landscape give these photographs a distinctive character. I paid attention to how they worked within each composition, without losing sight of the people. Across the different locations, the connections between the couple and their loved ones are what hold this collection of photographs together.

My approach

From the church to Peyriac-de-Mer’s lagoon

01

The ceremony

In church, I work with as little intervention as possible. The uniforms, the ceremonial gestures and the expressions of family and friends already have so much to tell. My focus is on finding the right viewpoint and choosing the right moment, without interrupting the ceremony.

02

The sword arches

As they left the church, the couple passed beneath arches of swords. In these photographs, I wanted to show the ceremony and the military personnel in uniform while keeping Marie-Agnès and Eliott at the heart of the story.

03

The Peyriac lagoon

Out on the lagoon, there is room to let the landscape frame the couple’s portraits. It gives me scope to work with their outlines, movement and the dress. I offer a little guidance rather than directing every movement, leaving the couple room to be themselves.

04

The family property

The reception at the family property brought the couple and their guests together somewhere that meant something to them. For this part of the story, I focused mainly on the conversations and exchanges between loved ones, keeping a low profile so everyone could enjoy the celebrations.

Frequently asked questions

Planning your wedding photography in Peyriac-de-Mer

Can we have couple portraits on the Peyriac lagoon?

Yes, you can plan portraits there, just as Marie-Agnès and Eliott did. I like to discuss with you how they will fit into your day, allowing for getting between locations and the time you would like to spend with your guests.

How do you photograph a religious ceremony?

I keep a very low profile and move around as little as possible. During the ceremony, I anticipate the important moments so there is no need to step in unnecessarily. The aim is to photograph the gestures, expressions and traditions with full respect for the atmosphere of the church.

Do we need to allow a lot of time for portraits?

Not necessarily. What matters is choosing a moment that works with your plans and the locations you have chosen. We discuss this beforehand so your portraits fit comfortably around the ceremony, travel between locations and the reception.

How do you prepare to photograph a wedding?

We talk through the schedule, the locations, the moments that matter to you and any traditions I should know about. Those conversations help me anticipate how the day will unfold while leaving me free to adapt as it happens. Above all, that preparation allows me to be present and attentive on your wedding day.
