A celebration bringing cultures together, blending tradition, modern touches and a wonderful party.
From getting ready at Château de Malmont to the ceremony at Église Saint-Paul, then back to the château for the celebrations, Désirée and Cyril had their loved ones around them. This wedding has stayed with me, as much for the bonds between the families as for the energy of the party.
Wedding story
I photographed Désirée and Cyril’s wedding at Château de Malmont, a warm celebration with family at its heart. Their loved ones were alongside them as they got ready, and the party spirit was there from the start. Bringing their families and several cultures together gave the celebration an energy I still remember vividly.
The ceremony took place at Église Saint-Paul in Clermont-l’Hérault, before everyone returned to Château de Malmont for the drinks reception. Speeches and dancing followed, with tradition and modern touches sitting comfortably together. Those shared moments, and the guests’ enthusiasm, shaped the photographs I made.
Throughout this wedding in the Hérault, I focused on the connections between people: two families coming together, cultures meeting and everyone finding their place in the celebrations. The château and church give the story its setting, but Désirée, Cyril and their loved ones are what make it matter.
My approach

Désirée and Cyril’s preparations at Château de Malmont set the tone for the wedding. Their loved ones were beside them, and the atmosphere was already festive. I wanted those people to have a place in the photographs too: telling the story of the preparations also meant showing the bonds between the couple and their families.

At Église Saint-Paul in Clermont-l’Hérault, I photographed the ceremony discreetly. I watched both the couple and their loved ones’ reactions, telling the story without interrupting the ceremony.

Back at Château de Malmont for the drinks reception, conversations flowed in several languages. This coming together of families and cultures was very much part of the wedding. I wanted to show it through the exchanges between guests, rather than focusing on the surroundings alone.

The speeches and spirited dancing brought incredible energy to the party. I photographed the celebration as it unfolded, without staging scenes, keeping my attention on the couple, their families and their friends. That blend of tradition and modernity is one of my strongest memories of Désirée and Cyril’s wedding.
