Clarisse & Axel’s Wedding at Domaine de l’Ale

A ceremony in Capestang, sunset portraits and an evening full of energy at Domaine de l’Ale.

Clarisse and Axel got ready at Domaine de l’Ale in Capestang before their church ceremony. Back at the domaine, near Béziers, an outdoor drinks reception and an evening of dancing brought their guests together in a wonderfully festive atmosphere.

A wedding day in Capestang

Photographing a wedding at Domaine de l’Ale

I joined Clarisse and Axel for their preparations at Domaine de l’Ale, then photographed their ceremony at the church in Capestang. The celebrations continued back at the domaine with an outdoor drinks reception. Their sunset portraits also gave me the chance to bring a fine art approach to their wedding photographs.

The sunset portraits gave Clarisse and Axel a little time together before returning to the party. I remember the dancing particularly vividly: the couple and their loved ones threw themselves into the evening with an enthusiasm I wanted the photographs to hold on to.

My approach

Photographing the feeling of a wedding at Domaine de l’Ale

01

Catching the moment

I leave room for spontaneity, noticing the glances, gestures and quiet pauses that bring a wedding to life. I want each photograph to feel true to what was happening, without anything being forced.

02

Natural light

For Clarisse and Axel’s portraits, I worked with the light at sunset. Those moments together gave their couple photographs a distinctive place in the story of their day.

03

A sense of place

The domaine features throughout the photographs, from the preparations to the outdoor drinks reception and the party. I make sure the setting is part of the story without letting it overshadow the people.

04

Present but unobtrusive

I pay close attention as the wedding unfolds, letting things happen at their own pace. Being there quietly allows me to photograph spontaneous moments rather than trying to stage everything.
