A quiet presence
Throughout a wedding, I prefer to keep a low profile and let things unfold naturally. I watch for gestures and expressions without trying to prompt them.
Domaine de l’Ale, Capestang
Celebrating together in Capestang, from the ceremony to the party at Domaine de l’Ale.
Mélanie and Charly chose Domaine de l’Ale, near Béziers, for their wedding. I joined them for the preparations at the domaine, their ceremony at Capestang church, and then outdoor games and a lively evening party. There was such warmth throughout the celebrations.

Mélanie and Charly in Capestang
I photographed Mélanie and Charly’s wedding at Domaine de l’Ale in Capestang, near Béziers. Their photographs begin with the preparations at the domaine, before moving on to the ceremony at Capestang church. The outdoor games organised for their guests and the lively evening celebrations are just as much a part of my memories of this warm, welcoming wedding.
The outdoor games gave guests a chance to spend time together and enjoy another side of the celebrations. I always like to make room for scenes like these in a wedding gallery: they tell us about the connections between people, just as the ceremony and the couple’s portraits do.
An attentive eye

Every wedding has its own pace. For Mélanie and Charly’s, I adjusted my approach as we moved from the preparations at the domaine to the church ceremony, then back to join their guests.

The games organised for the guests have their own place in the photographs. Spending time together outdoors was another part of what made this wedding feel so warm and welcoming.

The celebrations continued into the evening with a lively party. I photographed it as it happened, with the same close attention to the couple and their guests.
